The Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security has appointed Meera Acharya as the Director General of the Department of Foreign Employment. She is the first female Director General of the department.

Labor Minister Rajendra Singh Bhandari has given her the responsibility of the department in a ministerial decision. She was transferred to the labor ministry from the general ministry.

The department has got a new director general at a time when Labor Minister Bhandari is planning to form a task force to investigate organized crime in foreign employment.
