Former Judges Forum Nepal has commented that the case against the dissolution of the House of Representatives, pending in the Supreme Court, should be heard continuously and concluded promptly. The former judges forum, chaired by Top Bahadur Singh, made this view public at a press conference on Wednesday.

"It seems clear that without resolving the dispute regarding the constitutional status of the government and the constitutionality of the dissolution of the House of Representatives, which is pending before the Constitutional Bench of the Honorable Supreme Court, there will be confusion over the general elections announced by the Council of Ministers," the statement said. "There are complaints from the general public that the formation of the government by the Honorable President against the constitutional provisions and the spirit of the constitution and the dissolution of the House of Representatives on the recommendation of that government have not been addressed as per the demands of the youth protests."

It is the constitutional responsibility of the Supreme Court, established as the guardian of the constitution, to resolve the dispute regarding the constitutional application and observance as soon as possible, and the Supreme Court should show readiness to fulfill that responsibility, Chairman Singh said at a press conference.

He said that it is necessary to draw the Supreme Court's serious attention to the precedent of the Constitutional Bench giving priority to the two writ petitions filed by writ petitioner Santosh Bhattarai and the Office of the President and writ petitioner Sher Bahadur Deuba and the Office of the President, and deciding them after continuous hearing with promptness.
