Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari has said that the Election Commission has left no stone unturned in its preparations as the election of the House of Representatives scheduled for Falgun 21 is inevitable.
In a discussion between representatives of political parties, the Election Commission, security agencies and civil society convened by Prime Minister Sushila Karki at Singha Durbar on Monday, Acting Chief Election Commissioner Bhandari said that there is no lack of preparation as the election is after the Gen-G movement. 'The only alternative to the election is the election. The Commission has completed the preparations since it is an unopposed election. There is no weakness in the preparation,' Bhandari said.
Bhandari also said that the Commission is fully prepared to conduct the election. He said that only some procedural matters remain in the preparations to conduct the election.
Similarly, Bhandari said that the security challenge in the election is assessed to be of a different nature. He also said that the Commission has received information that the Ministry of Home Affairs has guaranteed security. Stating that constituencies would be classified as risk and high risk during elections in the past, Bhandari said that this time it would be different. He said that there could be disputes and security risks between the opponents of the parties and independent candidates.
He said that the security challenge in the election could be due to the struggle between new and old forces. 'There may be attempts to disrupt the election in places where there was a peaceful election earlier.' He said that it could be peaceful in places that were previously considered high-risk,' he said.
Bhandari also urged all parties to support the election.
