Malaysia's acting ambassador to Nepal, Mohammad Firdous Azam, has said that Malaysia seeks to ensure that Nepali workers going for employment are healthy and fit for work.
Addressing a health camp organized by the Nepal Federation of Health Professionals, Nepal Medical Professionals Association and GAMKA Nepal on Sunday on the occasion of Immigration Day, he said, ‘This is not just an administrative necessity, but also a shared moral responsibility of both countries. Health ensures the respect, security and well-being of workers. It also ensures productivity and sustainability.’
He said that quality health screening has been given priority to ensure that all Nepalis are fit for work before going to Malaysia for employment. ‘Quality health screening of all Nepali workers is being done before going to Malaysia through the Nepal Federation of Health Professionals. I would like to commend this excellent work,’ he said, ‘I am committed to working closely with the Nepali government and relevant stakeholders to make labor migration to Malaysia safe, orderly and dignified.’
He said that Malaysia has long been a major destination country for Nepali workers. "Nepali workers are known in Malaysia for their discipline, tolerance and strong work culture," he said. "Nepali workers are making a significant contribution to Malaysia's economic growth, especially through manufacturing, construction, plantations and service sectors."
