Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure, Transport and Urban Development Kulman Ghising has directed the construction company to double the pace of work on the Daunne section of the Narayangadh-Butwal road expansion.
Stating that the common people have suffered a lot due to the road, Minister Ghising inspected the road on Saturday evening and stressed the need for speedy completion of the work. Minister Ghising also directed the construction company to complete the construction of the Daunne section by January.
'The common people complain that there is daily traffic jams and no work has been done, they should suffer,' he said, bringing together construction entrepreneurs, 'There can be no more delay, the work should be completed quickly, I don't know what else to do.'
Even after seven years since the expansion of the Narayangadh-Butwal road began, the suffering of the Daunne section has not gone away. Passengers and drivers are forced to suffer daily on the 14-kilometer section.
Although the blacktop has been completed in many places, the problem of traffic jams is more in the Daunne section. Passengers are forced to suffer additional traffic jams when goods vehicles overturn on the narrow road that was demolished.
Of the 113 kilometers of road that has been expanded, 82.466 kilometers of four-lane and 19.34 kilometers of two-lane roads have been blacktopped, the project said. Of the 64 bridges on the road section, 58 and 468 culverts have been constructed, 456.
The contract for the expansion has been awarded to China State Construction Engineering Corporation. After the company delayed the work, the project office initially pressured the central office to complete the work quickly.
