A young woman, a rape victim, has attempted suicide at the Patan High Court in Lalitpur.

On Thursday, the 30-year-old victim was rescued by the police and taken to Patan Hospital after she attempted suicide.

The victim consumed insecticide after the court ordered her release on bail in a case in which Pramod Mainali, an officer working at the Comptroller and Auditor General's Office, was a defendant.

The victim was taken to Patan Hospital by the police after a court employee saw her making a commotion in the court compound and informed the police, said Parbati Hitan, the court's information officer.
