The counting of votes for the election of a new leadership in the UML has begun. The counting of votes has been going on since yesterday under the 11th general convention.

According to the preliminary vote count, KP Sharma Oli has secured 156 votes for the post of Chairman, while another candidate, Ishwor Pokharel, has secured 66 votes.

Similarly, Shankar Pokharel has a slight lead in the post of General Secretary. While he secured 115 votes, another candidate for General Secretary, Surendra Pandey, has secured 108 votes. Pokharel Oli and Pandey are competing from the Pokharel panel.
