Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav has said that the Gen-G youth movement has given the country a new direction. He said this at a program organized on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the English publication of The Rising Nepal, published by Gorkhapatra Sansthan, in Kathmandu on Thursday.

The Vice President said that the movement of the Gen-G youth generation, which has risen today with demands for transparency, good governance, a corruption-free society, simple public services, and employment opportunities within the country, has given the country a new direction. He said that since modern infrastructure alone makes the nation competitive, journalism should be able to play a monitoring role to ensure transparency and accountability in infrastructure development.

He said that since today is the digital era, the speed and reach of news are defined by digital media, Gorkhapatra should be able to maintain credibility and factuality by taking the lead in digital journalism. The Vice President said that Gorkhapatra Institute is not only a heritage of journalism, but also a living document of Nepali society, culture, history, and change, and said, ‘Gorkhapatra should be able to maintain credibility and factuality by taking the lead in digital journalism.’

He said that Gorkhapatra Institute is another commendable step in establishing itself as a priceless heritage for future generations through archival journalism, i.e. journalism that preserves facts, history, and evidence.
