The commission led by Gauri Bahadur Karki, formed to investigate the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24, has recorded the statement of Nepal Police IGP Dan Bahadur Karki.

The commission has completed the statements of four people including Karki on Friday. Spokesperson Vigyanraj Sharma said that statements were taken from the then Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Dawadi, the then IGP Chandrakuber Khapung, the then Chief District Officer of Kathmandu District Chhabi Rijal and IGP Karki, whose statements have been ongoing since Thursday.

Karki, the then Chief of the Kathmandu Valley Police Office Ranipokhari, has been questioned on issues ranging from why force was used in the incident on the 23rd to why the security forces could not use less force against the Gen-G protest.

After completing their statements on Friday, the statement of the Inspector General of Police has also been completed, said the commission spokesperson Sharma. According to him, now it is the turn to take the statements of the then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Sharma said that the commission will write a letter to them to come to the commission to give their statements and take their statements.

The statements of the then Home Secretary, former IGP and current IGP on Friday were of the same nature, according to the Commission source. They have admitted that they had to use force under duress on the 23rd and that shots were fired to control the situation.

The statements were taken from 11 am after reaching the Commission's office in Singha Durbar. The Commission also took a statement from the then Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Chhabi Rijal, on Friday itself. He was called again after the statement taken earlier did not provide anything.

The Commission is also preparing to call Nepal Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel for a statement this week. The Commission initially took statements from the police officers in the field. Then, it worked on taking statements from those at the policy level.
