The government has decided to provide subsistence allowance to those injured in the Gen-G protests that took place on 23 and 24 Bhadra.

The Cabinet has approved the Procedure for Providing Relief Assistance to the Injured and Disabled in the Movement, 2082, with a provision for providing allowances to the injured by classifying them into very serious, serious and moderate categories.

An official from the Ministry of Home Affairs said that with the implementation of this procedure, the process of receiving assistance to the injured in the Gen-G movement has progressed. According to ministry officials, the procedure has made provision for providing a living allowance of 18,000 rupees to the very seriously injured, 9,000 rupees to the seriously injured and 4,000 rupees to the moderately injured. The classification of the injured is underway. This will be implemented after the classification work is completed, Joint Secretary Anand Kafle, spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, told Kantipur.

According to the details collected by the Ministry of Health, 2,522 people were injured across the country in the Gen-G movement. 1879 people were injured in Bagmati Province, 224 in Koshi, 59 in Madhesh, 132 in Gandaki, 129 in Lumbini, 35 in Karnali, and 64 in Sudurpaschim. The details of the injured collected by the Ministry of Health from various hospitals have reached the Ministry of Home Affairs. Now they will receive allowances based on classification.
