Police said he was arrested from Sukedhara based on the victim's complaint that he had been out of contact after taking money.

Police have arrested a man and made him public today on charges of defrauding people by promising to send them to Portugal for foreign employment.

The arrested person is Bhim Bahadur Mahar, 33, a resident of Bedkot Municipality-10, Kanchanpur and currently residing in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26. 

Mahar was arrested from Sukedhara based on a complaint from the victim that he had taken Rs 200,000 from a person, promising to send him to Portugal, and then disappeared, said Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Kazi Kumar Acharya.

He has been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, Kathmandu for necessary investigation and action.
