Ncell Foundation is set to distribute more than 2,000 educational materials in exchange for the boundaries hit in the Nepal Premier League (NPL) Season 2 matches played until Thursday.
The materials will be made available to students of government and community schools as part of a social initiative to ‘connect cricket with the classroom and every four with a bright future’.
The foundation, which has been continuously supporting students of government and community schools through this campaign, which was launched in collaboration with NPL last year, has reiterated its commitment to distributing 4 educational materials in every four of Season-2 this year as well.
90 players have hit 510 fours in the matches played till Thursday (Mangsir 18). Accordingly, 2,040 educational materials have been distributed. Among the top three players who hit fours, Adam Rossington of Pokhara Avengers is at the top with 27 fours.
He alone has ensured the distribution of 108 educational materials. Darcy Short of Lumbini Lions is in second place with 19 fours and has contributed 76 materials. Ben Charlesworth of Kathmandu Gorkhas and Binod Bhandari of Sudurpaschim Royals are tied for third place with 17 fours each. Both have ensured that 68-68 materials will be provided. According to the
Foundation, each kit will contain materials such as bags, paper, pencils, sharpeners, erasers, etc. These materials are believed to reduce the lack of resources required for student learning and have a positive impact.
Last year, a commitment was made to contribute 2,612 materials from the 653 fours hit in the first season of the NPL. The foundation has stated that more than 9,000 educational materials were distributed in the same campaign.
This year too, such material distribution will be done in coordination with the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN), local levels and partner organization Karmayog Foundation.
