Police have arrested the absconding accused in the murder of former police constable Sita Kandel, 46, in Bhakunde, Besisahar Municipality-2, Lamjung after seven months. Buddhiram Darai, 47, of former Bachauli VDC-1 (currently Ratnanagar Municipality-6) of Chitwan, was arrested from the border area while coming to Nepal from India, Lamjung Police said.
DSP Resham Bohara, Chief of the District Police Office, Lamjung, said that Darai was arrested by a team of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police from the Belhiya road section of Siddharthanagar Municipality-1 in the border area of Rupandehi on Thursday.
The District Police Office organized a press conference on Friday and made the arrested Darai public. The police said that the district court extended his remand for 7 days on Friday for the crime of manslaughter and began further investigation.
The Lamjung District Court had issued an arrest warrant in his name on April 15, 2005, for Darai's absconding after the murder of Kandel. During the investigation, it was also revealed that he was working as a security guard in New Delhi, according to the police.
On April 31, locals informed the police about a foul smell emanating from Kandel's house. She was found dead when they entered the house, which was locked from the outside. According to the police, the body was found wrapped in a tarpaulin under the bed of a box bed in the bedroom.

According to the police, Darai then left for India via Aanpatari in Chitwan on the night of Baisakh 20.
