The government has appointed Deepak Shrestha of Gorkha as the member-secretary of the Lumbini Development Fund.

The cabinet meeting appointed 36-year-old Shrestha as member secretary. Prime Minister and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sushila Karki has instructed the newly appointed member secretary Shrestha to work in a religious institution with religious awareness.

‘The responsibility that the government has entrusted to you, fulfill it honestly. It (Lumbini) is a religious institution. Work with religious awareness. May your descendants in the future also be able to walk with their heads held high. May they be proud,’ was the Prime Minister’s instruction.

Shrestha has also promised to work honestly so as not to tarnish the dignity of the institution and the position.

Shrestha, from Sahid Lakhan Rural Municipality-6 in Gorkha, has 17 years of experience in engineering, management and administration. He holds a diploma in mechanical engineering, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and an MSc in transportation engineering and management.

After working for the Civil Aviation Authority for some time, Shrestha joined the Nepal Water Supply Corporation in 2067.

After taking over as the head of the corporation's Banepa and Dharan branches, he was assigned to the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority in 2070.

He worked in the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority for 8 years investigating corruption. He was also awarded by both the Corporation and the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority for his excellent work performance.

He said that because he conducted good research with honesty, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority declared him the best employee in 2076 and awarded him the award, and the corporation also awarded him at various times.
