The Federation of Nepal Foreign Employment Orientation Professionals has stated that it has not charged more than Rs 2,100 for providing orientation training to workers going for foreign employment.
‘Orientation training is the cornerstone of the security of workers going for foreign employment. The current reforms have increased the effectiveness of training. It is indispensable for disseminating information to workers,’ said Federation President Rajaram Gautam at a stakeholder meeting organized at the Ministry of Labor. ‘The orientation training operation procedure has made it possible to charge Rs 21. We are providing services as per the procedure. We have not done more than that.’
The Foreign Employment Professionals Association has accused the Orientation Training Center of charging Rs 28. The association has said that orientation should be provided online and the fee should be reduced.
President Gautam said that after the new procedure was issued, people have started coming to classes. ‘Now, workers have started coming to classes. There is an end to fake people. The classes are full,’ he said, ‘action should be taken if anyone charges more than 21. We request the Manpower Professionals and the Foreign Employment Department to monitor this.’
According to the revised procedure, new standards have been set for training provider organizations regarding manpower and infrastructure. According to which, two 84-inch smart boards, a computer printer, and an iris scanner compatible with the department's Foreign Employment Information Management System (FEMIS) were made mandatory in each training class, and the duration of the training was also increased. With this new arrangement, the training fee was increased from 700 to 2100 rupees.
