The Supreme Court has issued a show cause order on a writ petition seeking to overturn its decision not to prosecute Hope Fertility, which extracts eggs from minor girls and sells them at high prices.

Hearing the writ petition filed by advocate Ankita Tripathi, a bench of Supreme Court Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel has sought a written reply along with a show cause order.

The District Government Attorney's Office, the High Government Attorney's Office and the Attorney General's Office had decided not to prosecute Hope Fertility and Diagnostics Pvt. Ltd., which had extracted the eggs of minor girls and sold them for lakhs after offering them Rs 10,000. A writ petition was filed on Sunday seeking to quash the decision.

The District Government Attorney's Office, the High Government Attorney's Office, Patan, the Attorney General's Office and the Central Investigation Bureau of the police were named as respondents in the writ petition.
