The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Nepal, Abdullah Saeed Mubarak Jarwan Al-Shamsi, has stated that the UAE's relations with Nepal are deeply friendly and based on mutual goodwill, respect, and common interests.

Addressing the 54th National Day of the UAE held in Kathmandu on Saturday, Ambassador Al-Shamsi said that both countries share the same vision in the fight against climate change, world peace and terrorism as members of the United Nations, and that the UAE has stood by Nepal in difficult circumstances.

The embassy has expressed its commitment to continued cooperation, noting that the UAE has supported Nepal in natural disasters such as the 2015 earthquake, the COVID-19 pandemic and floods.  According to the embassy, a large number of Nepalis have been living in a safe environment in the UAE.  They are engaged in various fields of professions and are contributing to the economic development of both countries.

The UAE has expressed its willingness to further expand the scope of cooperation with Nepal in areas of renewable energy, tourism, infrastructure, human resource development and other areas of common interest. The UAE has praised the efforts of the Nepalese government, noting that Nepal aims to graduate from the list of least developed countries by 2026.

The unity of the UAE society reflects the strength of mutual relations and the spirit of cooperation, he said. According to him, the UAE has secured its place among the world's leading nations, achieving remarkable achievements in areas ranging from sustainable development, clean energy, space research to artificial intelligence. These achievements are not accidental, he said, but the result of excellence, prudent use of resources and investment in human resources and knowledge.

'A journey based on a prudent vision and strong will has made the UAE a unique model of progress, development and innovation,' he said.

The embassy said that this year is even more special as President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has declared 2025 the 'Year of the Community'. 'This reflects the leadership's deep belief in our long-standing values based on unity, cooperation and community participation,' the embassy said in a statement.
