As the number of law students has increased in recent times, concerns have also arisen about the manpower it will produce.

They demanded that legal practitioners should not only work towards becoming advocates or judges after studying law, but also to make the society morally responsible and gender-aware.

Nepal Bar Association President Vijay Prasad Mishra claimed that the attraction towards law has increased among the youth in recent days, but it is necessary to develop the quality and capacity of that level. Speaking at a program organized by the National Law College and Jury Nepal, Bar President Mishra said that attention should be paid to developing their capacity rather than producing manpower. He pointed out that since law is a limited field, only producing manpower can lead to chaos.

Jury Nepal and National Law College had run a 'Legal Mentorship' program for students studying B.A.L.B. with the support of UNFPA. They had run a 6-month legal mentorship program on 10 topics including gender dignity, social values and norms, research, and long-term impact of law.

At the program, former Supreme Court Registrar Ramkrishna Timalsina said that legal education is currently a topic of interest, but such programs will provide practical skills that connect it with society. Timalsina, who is also the head of the National Law College, claimed that he has been able to gain a lot of knowledge and experience by providing 'mentorship' to 20 students who will be practicing in the court in the near future.

UNFPA Nepal Chief Shriram Haridas said that investment in youth should be increased. He claimed that since investment in youth is for the future, they should be made mature in all aspects.
