An agreement has been reached between two organizations of non-resident Nepalis who have been divided and formed different groups in the past few years. On Thursday, Mahesh Kumar Shrestha and Badri KC agreed to unite and end their previous disputes.

Recently, both NRN groups had split into Shesh Ghale and another faction. The NRNA dispute had escalated after the Ghale faction announced that Shrestha had been elected as the president after holding separate elections in Kathmandu, citing the implementation of the Supreme Court's decision.

The KC faction had filed a case in the Supreme Court, claiming that they had been incorporated without handing over the central office in Baluwatar. Shrestha had also filed a case in the Supreme Court, claiming that he was authorized.

While the case was pending in the court, Shrestha had started discussions for unity after becoming the president. Badri KC, the president of one faction of the NRN, informed that they had been engaged in separate activities in the divided state and had now agreed to form a single organization and that a ten-point agreement had been reached.

After the unity, an agreement has been reached to hold the 12th general convention by April 17, 2026. Both sides are ready to go to the Ekta General Convention under the leadership of Shrestha.

An agreement has been reached to form an 11-member steering committee to make the general convention transparent and credible, and that the person on such a committee will not be a candidate in the 12th general convention.  KC said.  On Sunday morning, a program will be held to announce the date of the Ekta and new general convention in the presence of Prime Minister Sushila Karki, KC said.
