Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Urban Development Kulman Ghising conducted a surprise inspection of the Federal Parliament building under construction at Singha Durbar on Wednesday evening. During the inspection, Minister Ghising took stock of the work being done there during the night.

In the absence of a venue for the first meeting of the new House of Representatives after the upcoming Falgun 21 elections, Minister Ghising had repeatedly instructed officials of the Ministry of Urban Development and construction entrepreneurs to work in three shifts.

However, during a surprise visit on Wednesday, Minister Ghising said that they were told to work in three shifts but were not seen in the field. He warned that action would be taken against the construction entrepreneurs if they did not complete the construction by working in three shifts. Similarly, Ghising said that action would be taken against the project management and consultants who regularly supervise the work if they did not work on time.

Stating that the construction of the Parliament building is very important and should be completed before the upcoming Chaitra, Minister Ghising warned that action would be taken against all those who are negligent if the construction is not completed on that date.

A contract agreement was signed in Asoj 2076 to complete the construction of the Parliament building within three years. The contract agreement, which has been extended for the fifth time, is expiring on the upcoming 16th Poush. The progress of the construction of the civil and other structures of the project is about 87 percent.

Another contract agreement was signed in 2080 to work on the interior, security system, etc. Earlier, on 8 Kartik, Minister Ghising had requested that the work be done by making a daily work schedule to ensure that it is completed by 16 Poush, as it is the largest and most important project among the buildings under construction after conducting on-site monitoring.
