The police have not been able to bring back 15 people who escaped from custody during the protests on Bhadra 24 despite having 'located' them.
According to SP Kazi Kumar Acharya of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, they have only been kept in contact due to the burning of missiles during the protest. 'They have only been kept in contact due to the burning of some files, so far 59 of the absconding prisoners, including 53 men and 6 women, have been taken into custody,' he said.
The police have also arrested 102 prisoners on various other charges. On 23 and 24 Bhadra, the police have arrested 267 people, including 262 men and 5 women, on charges of creating disturbances. Of these, 87 have been released on bail, 33 on bail, while 43 are in custody pending trial. Investigation is underway against 113 people.
