Two-way traffic has resumed on the Daunne road section after a cargo vehicle stuck near Dhyunkhola was removed. The highway was blocked since 8:40 am after a long vehicle carrying chemical fertilizers from Birgunj to Bhairahawa broke down near Dhyunkhola.
According to Police Inspector Thaman Singh Rana of the Area Police Office, Dumkibas, who was deployed in the field, traffic in both directions has been operating for some time now after the damaged goods vehicle on the highway was removed.
According to the District Police Office, the Daunne section was jammed from 8:40 am on Monday, and the convoy of vehicles had reached the Binayi bridge 4 kilometers east of Dumkibas. By 12 am on Monday, the vehicles there had already left for their destinations.
As the Chinese contractor company China State Engineering Corporation, which has been responsible for widening the East-West Highway, has not been working diligently, the Daunne section of the road has been jammed for hours every day.
