The Immigration Department has recommended deportation of four Chinese nationals arrested from Sohrakhutte, Kathmandu, and barring them from entering Nepal for three years.

Chinese citizens Ruizheng Alan Wang, Liu Yufan, Rui Xiao and Chai Yan Bo, who were arrested from a house in Sohrakhutte on October 11, have been recommended for deportation after collecting a fine of Rs 50,000 and being banned from entering Nepal for 3 years.

Director General of the Immigration Department Ram Chandra Tiwari has made a Director General-level decision and recommended the Ministry of Home Affairs to expel them after collecting the prescribed fine and being banned from entering Nepal for 3 years. The recommendation made by the Immigration Department must be approved by a Home Secretary-level decision.

Director and spokesperson of the department Tikaram Dhakal informed that a letter recommending deportation has been sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Last week, a team of the department raided a house in Sohrakhutte and took the Chinese citizens under control after being accused of engaging in suspicious activities by renting it.

The team of the department had reached the place with the help of the police after receiving information that some Nepali girls were being used to conduct illegal activities including running a marriage bureau. After that, during the search, it was found that two people were staying over their visas and two others were involved in illegal activities by misusing their visas. After that, during the investigation, it was found that they entered for one purpose and engaged in other activities, and the department has recommended to the ministry to fine all four of them 50,000 each and ban them from entering Nepal for 3 years.

If it is found that they have been staying in Nepal in violation of the immigration law and have engaged in illegal activities, Section 9 of the Immigration Act 2049 provides for the collection of the prescribed fine and banning them from entering Nepal for a certain period. Some Chinese citizens who have entered Nepal have been involved in crimes such as smuggling foreign currency and gold, wildlife smuggling, and illegal call bypassing. The four people arrested recently have been found to have been engaging in illegal activities under the guise of operating a marriage bureau. Some Chinese have entered on tourist visas and overstayed even after the period expired.
