Police have taken one person into custody in connection with the discovery of an abandoned body wrapped in plastic and cloth at Kathmandu's New Bus Park.

Police did not provide further details, saying further inquiries were underway. The woman's body was found wrapped in a blanket on the side of the main road on Saturday.

Initial investigations have revealed that the woman was murdered. A police officer said an investigation is underway into why and how the murder took place.
