An order has been issued to send Gyan Bahadur Bamjan, who was arrested on charges of involvement in the Swarnalakshmi Cooperative fraud in Kalimati, to custody for trial.
An officer of the Kathmandu Police told Kantipur that he was sent to the Central Jail, Sundhara, after the District Court, Kathmandu ordered his detention.
A relative (brother-in-law) of the main accused in the cooperative fraud, GB Rai, had escaped from the custody of the Police Circle, Kalimati during the Gen-G movement. He was arrested again and presented in court by the police. The order to send him to detention was issued in that process.
Earlier, he was also involved in the Surya Darshan cooperative fraud in Pokhara. The police had arrested him. However, the court had ordered his release on a bail of Rs 1 million.
