The local administration has stated that no group except the UML has been given permission to organize a public event in Kathmandu on Friday. According to Kathmandu Chief District Officer Ishwor Raj Poudel, the UML has been allowed to enter the event venue from one side of the road.

Apart from this, the administration has not given permission to any other party, group or organization to organize a program that would disrupt public movement, said Pradya Poudel.

A joint meeting of the Pradya District Chiefs of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur and the District Security Chief was held on Friday morning. He said that the meeting reviewed the peace and security management and current developments in the valley and accordingly deployed security personnel.

UML had sought permission from the administration to hold an indoor program at Karki Banquet in Babarmahal as part of a pre-planned program. Accordingly, after UML cadres started gathering from various places around, a group has been protesting at Maitighar Mandal on Friday itself, claiming to be the injured of the Gen-G group. The rally taken out by UML from Tinkune has already left for Maitighar.

UML will reach Maitighar via Babarmahal and formally announce the National Volunteer Force at Karki Banquet. Chairman KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to announce the force. UML Deputy Secretary General Pradeep Gyawali says that the party is going to announce a force, citing increased security threats to its leaders.
