Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said that there will be zero tolerance towards those who make hateful and inflammatory statements during the elections.

Discussing with civic leaders and representatives at the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers' Office, Singha Durbar on Monday, she said that immediate action would be taken against those who make inflammatory statements.

Stating that the government is working to create an environment for the election, Prime Minister Karki said that action would be taken against those who make inflammatory statements. 'Along with managing youth discontent, we are also aware of the risk of polarizing the election environment and disrupting it with violence.' The relevant competent bodies will take immediate and public action against anyone who uses hateful and inflammatory statements during the election,' Karki said. ''Hot-spot' mapping and intelligence mobilization have been increased to ensure peaceful voting.' She also said that there is a need for vigilance from the citizen level against those who make such statements.

Prime Minister Karki said that the state should partner with the citizens to protect democracy. 'The country's democratic future and constitutional journey depend on the success of this election. "If we fail this time, the country will be plunged into a long political turmoil and constitutional crisis," she said. "We have full confidence that you, as leaders of civil society, will play an active and decisive role as the 'third force' to create an environment of trust between the government and the parties and to inspire the common people to participate in the elections."
