Home Minister directs to maintain tight security arrangements for NPL cricket

Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has taken a briefing on the security arrangements and final preparations for the second edition of the Nepal Premier Cricket League (NPL), which is set to begin tomorrow.

Home Minister Aryal has taken information about the security preparations for the NPL from Kathmandu Chief District Officer Ishwor Raj Poudel and Kathmandu Police Chief Ramesh Thapa.

According to the Home Minister's Secretariat, Aryal directed the meeting to keep the security arrangements tight and proper throughout the cricket period and to increase security alertness to prevent any untoward incident.  'Since cricket will be played at night for the first time, it is necessary to make the security arrangements even stronger and proper this time, so I direct to make arrangements accordingly,'  Minister Aryal said in the meeting.

Earlier, the Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) has also urged people to watch the inaugural match of the NPL from home.

CAN Secretary Paras Khadka had issued a video message urging people to watch the inaugural match from home as all the tickets for the inaugural match have been sold.  Khadka had said, "All tickets have been sold out and as the first day is always crowded, we humbly request all those who have not received tickets to stay at home and watch the game and support us."
