Senior journalist Kishor Nepal has expressed sadness over the loss of professionalism in journalism.
Speaking at the 'National Workshop for Empowerment' of the Free Media Network organized by the Federation of Nepali Journalists on Friday, he said that professionalism has been lost in journalism. 'It is called an independent profession, but journalists are directed by the party. How can we work independently like this? '
He argues that professionalism has also declined due to the problems prevalent in journalism. He said, 'Journalists are plagued by small problems. They do not get their salaries on time and are forced to be advisors from ward to minister.'
Nepal said that there is party interference in the federation as well. He argued that the office bearers of the federation are elected by the party, not by journalists. 'Nowadays, the office bearers of the federation are not elected by journalists. They are elected by the party,' he said.
