Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal has said that more than 5,000 prisoners who escaped from various prisons in the country during the Gen-G protests are yet to be arrested. Aryal also said that the government is working to arrest the prisoners who are still absconding.

During a discussion on the peace and security situation and preparations for the upcoming elections at the meeting of the Federalism Strengthening and National Concerns Committee on Thursday, Home Minister Aryal informed that a total of 14,554 prisoners had escaped from various prisons in the country in the incidents of Bhadra 23 and 24. Home Minister Aryal did not provide the parliamentary committee with the figures on how many weapons were looted. He said that due to security concerns, it is not possible to provide figures on how many weapons are yet to be returned out of the looted ones.
