Home Secretary Rameshwor Dangal has presented the insignia to newly appointed Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki.

Secretary Dangal presented the rank insignia to Karki at a program organized at the Ministry of Home Affairs. The Council of Ministers meeting on Monday promoted the senior-most AIG Karki to the rank of Inspector General. Karki was promoted with effect from 27 Kartik (today) after Inspector General Chandrakuber Khapung retired due to 30 years of service.

With this, Karki will remain in the leadership until 17 Chaitra 2084, with the current 30-year service period remaining. Karki was interrupted while addressing the Ministry of Home Affairs after being presented with the rank insignia.

Due to the demolition of 24 Bhadra, more than 450 police barracks, national property, individuals and commercial establishments were set on fire and looted, and 76 people, including 3 policemen, were killed. Karki has come to the leadership of the police against the backdrop of the need to rise up from the situation after so much loss of life and property and work effectively in regular work and peace and security, crime investigation, etc.

Karki has formally assumed the leadership of the police since Thursday.
