Only the mother and daughter were in the house. When Pabitra heard the thief coming, the thief left the ladder and fled, said Chandra Raut, Deputy Inspector of Police at the Budhbar Police Station. "We heard about the attempted theft, but no one came to file a complaint," he said. "Incidents of small and big thefts are happening all over the village." According to the police, the ladder was taken from the nearby Electricity Authority office.
