UML leader and former Law Minister Agni Kharel has said that the government should create an environment for the election. He said that the government has not been able to create an environment for the election, but if the environment is created, the UML will not run away from the election.
Kharel said this at an interaction program with political parties on the topic of 'Election of the House of Representatives: Challenges and Opportunities' organized by the Nepal Law Society in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
Kharel said that they do not believe that the current government will hold elections after Prime Minister Sushila Karki, who has expressed that she will not meet the leaders of the political parties who are the main stakeholders of the elections, said that they do not believe that the election will be held. 'Has an electoral environment been created or not? Or is it being created or not? Hold elections, we will participate, but we do not believe that elections will be held till today, it is the government's job to give us that confidence,' Kharel said. 'I do not think that the Prime Minister who says he will not talk to the party is seeking elections in the country. I will not sit with the top leaders, why not?'
Kharel reminded that Sushila Karki is the leader of the current political party that will make her the Chief Justice.
He said that there is doubt that the election will be held, saying that the morale of the police and security personnel has not increased at the present time. ‘The morale of the police has not improved . I humbly say, let it be that the UML will not run away from the election . But there is no government structure that can give confidence that the election is taking place . The work itself is not going that way . And how can we believe that the election will take place ? There should be an election-friendly environment, right? Has that environment been created ? The things needed for that can only come and run away ?,' he said .
Kharel also said that the government was able to easily hold the Constituent Assembly election because the Khilraj Regmi-led government was formed with the support of political parties.
