President Ram Chandra Poudel has administered the oath of office and secrecy to newly appointed Madhesh Province Chief Surendra Labh Karna. President Poudel administered the oath to Karna at a special ceremony held at the President's Office, Sheetal Niwas, today, according to the President's Personal Secretariat.
The ceremony was attended by Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, ministers, heads of constitutional bodies and office bearers.
The cabinet meeting held on Monday had recommended to the President the appointment of Surendra Labh Karna of Dhanusha as the province chief of Madhesh Province.
Labh is a political analyst and expert on Madhesh affairs. He has a PhD in economics. He was also a member of the National Planning Commission in 2078 BS. He also taught for a long time at the Ramswaroop Ramsagar Multiple Campus (RARAO) in Janakpur.
