The indigenous Tharu community of the Terai region living in Kathmandu has celebrated the Samachkewa festival. On Saturday, women of the Tharu community gathered at the 'Samachkewa Festival 2082' organized by the Tharu Mahila Samaj Upatyaka Samiti at the Kathmandu Tourism Board and celebrated this festival with joy.

This festival, celebrated by sisters of the Tharu community to pray for the long life of their brothers, has been celebrated in Kathmandu since 2062 BS, said Sushila Chaudhary, chairperson of the Tharu Mahila Samaj, Upatyaka Samiti.

Tharu women celebrate Samachkewa in Kathmandu 'We, the Tharu community, have celebrated this festival in the federal capital Kathmandu to maintain our customs and culture,' she said.
