Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava has paid a courtesy call on Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal.

During the meeting, Minister Aryal and Ambassador Srivastava discussed the issue of peace and security for the elections. During a bilateral meeting held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Sunday, Indian Ambassador Srivastava expressed confidence that the elections to the House of Representatives to be held on Falgun 21 will be held effectively in a fearless environment. Saying that the Indian government will always move forward in a positive and harmonious manner regarding the friendly relations between the two countries, Ambassador Srivastava expressed his view that he is always positive about the role he has to play to make the elections successful. Saying that the country is currently in a sensitive situation, Minister Aryal said that the government has placed peace and security, good governance and corruption-free service delivery as its top priorities and that the announced elections are being held on the scheduled date in a fearless and peaceful manner.

During the meeting, Minister Aryal thanked the Indian government for its friendly sentiments towards Nepal and clarified that the relations between Nepal and India will always remain strong.

In the same meeting, Minister Aryal also expressed the view that India's role in managing border security before and during the elections, considering the fact that the two countries have an open border.
