Gauri Bahadur Karki, the chairman of the commission of inquiry formed to investigate the Gen-G movement of Bhadra 23 and the situation that arose the next day, has said that everyone, including former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, should obey the law. In a brief conversation with Kantipur on Friday, Chairman Karki also said that after the statements of the police, everyone's statements will be taken one by one.
When asked whether they (including Oli) do not trust you, Karki said, 'Everyone should obey the law. I do not think that a person who has become the Prime Minister of the country does not obey the law. They may not be satisfied with some things.'
UML has been saying that the Karki Commission cannot conduct an impartial investigation. In a meeting with parties called by Prime Minister Sushila Karki in Baluwatar on Kartik 4, UML General Secretary Shankar Pokharel had said, 'The 'Karki Commission' formed by the current government is not in a position to conduct an independent and impartial investigation. Evidence has been made public that the head of the commission is involved in inciting the movement.'
Karki had posted on X on Bhadra 4 that all leaders should be arrested. He had written, 'No one should be allowed to escape. There are rumors that KP Oli escaped by helicopter.' Former Prime Minister KP Oli, Sher Bahadur Deuba, Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and other former ministers, MPs and officials should not be allowed to go abroad and flee.'
Karki said that he spoke as a citizen at that time. 'I spoke as a citizen. I said they should be arrested and taken away because I said they should be arrested. Didn't they put them in a helicopter and take them away? If they hadn't been arrested and taken away, they would have been killed by the mob. Do you understand that?'
He also said that if necessary, they can go out with permission. He said, 'Is there another reason why you were told not to leave the valley? Was it because there would be an attack. If you said you would go here for this reason, you can go.'
When asked when the statements of the then Prime Minister Oli and Home Minister Ramesh Lakhkar will be made, Karki's answer is, 'The statements will come gradually. After the police statements come, everyone will come gradually. There has been a delay because of the police too. '
