President Ram Chandra Poudel returned home on Thursday after participating in the 'Second World Summit for Social Development' that began on Tuesday in the capital of Qatar, Doha.
He was welcomed at the Tribhuvan International Airport by Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Sushila Karki, Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, Qatar's Ambassador to Nepal, and heads of security agencies. On that occasion, the Nepali Army presented a guard of honor to President Poudel.
President Poudel, along with First Lady Sabita Poudel, left for Doha on Monday to participate in the 'Second World Summit for Social Development' at the invitation of Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
He addressed the main session of the 'Second World Summit for Social Development' held in Doha on Tuesday as per the decision of the United Nations General Assembly. He also addressed the high-level roundtable conference on strengthening the three pillars of social development: poverty eradication, full and productive employment and decent work for all, and social inclusion organized under the conference.
President Poudel had a courtesy call on United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Tuesday. Poudel also visited the Qatar National Museum on Wednesday.
