The police have launched an investigation into Dr. Nicholas Bhusal, who describes himself as a social activist, for crimes against public peace.

The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, has informed that an investigation has been launched against him for disturbing public peace by holding press conferences at various places, causing riots, or inciting and instigating the sovereignty, territorial integrity and general public of Nepal, or by spreading rumors about things that were not done, or were not done.

Nicholas Bhusal was arrested by the police from Raniban, Gorkha Municipality-8, on Tuesday. He had been protesting against the government for not arresting the then Prime Minister and Home Minister who killed citizens by firing on 23 and 24 Bhadra. He was arrested on 23 Asoj when he went to protest at Maitighar Mandala. He was arrested by the police after he took part in the protest without permission, and since then he has been making harsh comments against Home Minister Aryal.

After being arrested from Maitighar Mandala, the police also tested him for drug use. During that time, the police sent him to a reformatory after he was found to have consumed marijuana. However, a few days later, he started making more violent statements.

Earlier, on 29 Mangsir 2081, he was arrested after taking a picture of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) President Ravi Lamichhane sleeping while he was in custody for investigation and making it public. He was arrested for violating the Electronic Transactions Act and a case was filed against him in court. He was released on a bail of 50,000 rupees.
