UML leader Pasang Sherpa has been arrested in a polygamy case.

According to Kathmandu Police Range Chief SSP Ramesh Thapa, Sherpa was arrested from Dhumbarahi on Tuesday. He is a member of the UML Central Committee.

The Kathmandu District Court had on 23 Chaitra 2079 sentenced him to one year in prison and a fine of Rs 5,000 for polygamy. He had gone to the High Court against the district's order. But the Patan High Court had also upheld the district's decision.

Sherpa, who is also active in the indigenous peoples' movement, is from Mikwakhola-5, Taplejung.
