Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has stressed that the government should actively work towards creating an environment for the elections. After collecting the second copy of the citizenship certificate from the Kathmandu District Administration Office today, she suggested that the government and the concerned bodies work towards creating an environment for the elections.
"The government should work to make the upcoming elections free of violence and orderly. The security personnel should search for and take control of the missing weapons of the police," she said.
Former President Bhandari took a copy of her citizenship certificate after protesters set fire to her documents including her citizenship on Bhadra 24 after the Gen-G movement.
Kathmandu's Chief District Officer Ishwor Raj Poudel gave her a copy of her citizenship certificate.
The District Administration Office was also damaged during the protests. The office has been reconstructed and is providing regular services.
