The Gen-G Movement Alliance has held discussions with leaders of various political parties and civil society. According to Amit Khanal of the alliance, the understanding of political parties and civil society towards the movement and the way forward were discussed on Monday.

"From political parties, Gagan Thapa, Narayan Kaji Shrestha, Sushila Shrestha, Sarendra Pandey, Usha Kiran Timsena, Ranju Darshan, and others participated. Khagendra Sangraula, Rita Pariyar, Bishvendra Paswan, Budhi Karki, Kumar Lama Tasi, Nanu Thami, and Anvika Giri also participated," he said. "The movement led by Genji has highlighted the need for inclusive long-term reforms to ensure good governance, stability, and fairness." Concluding that the movement has shaken political parties and the current political landscape, he said, "The parties going to the elections now need to include the demands and aspirations of Genji, and the idea of generational change and youth leadership has also been expressed." In the discussion, Khagendra Sangraula said that there is still freedom in political parties, saying, "They have started operating like religious organizations, where devotion has taken over instead of dialogue and loyalty has taken over instead of freedom. Our real question should be, how can we make political parties truly political institutions again?’

At the same time, the leaders of the political parties said that they would continue the fight for internal democracy. ‘We will support the institutionalization of the movement while agreeing with the agendas of the Gen-G movement, and the political intervention of the new generation is the most important achievement,’ Khanal said.

All the parties participating in the program concluded that elections were the only way out for the country and were ready to support reforms along with it, said Monica Niraula of the Alliance.
