Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Anil Kumar Sinha and British Ambassador Rob Fenn paid a courtesy call at Singha Durbar on Monday.

On this occasion, Minister Sinha expressed the government's commitment to good governance, accountability and transparent governance in the current evolving situation of Nepal. He informed that the upcoming House of Representatives elections (5 March 2026) are being taken forward as a major national agenda by institutionalizing the desire for change and democratic practices initiated by the young generation.

The meeting had a detailed discussion on the long-term relationship between Nepal and the UK, development cooperation, trade and investment promotion. Minister Sinha expressed gratitude for the continuous support that the UK has been providing in the social and economic development of Nepal since the past.

He also expressed his belief that the effective implementation of the Green Growth Nepal and Nepal in Business programs signed in 2024 will contribute to Nepal's green industry, inclusive development and poverty alleviation. In this regard, Ambassador Fenn informed that the UK is ready for cooperation and assistance in the fields of trade, investment, intellectual property rights and tourism.

Both sides agreed to continue cooperation and enhance mutual understanding in the context of Nepal's goal of graduating from a least developed country to a developing country by 2026 and becoming a middle-income country by 2030. Minister Sinha and Ambassador Fenn shared their views on maintaining continuous coordination to promote trade and investment between the two countries.
