Foreign employment professionals have demanded that the government resolve the foreign employment standards set by Malaysia through diplomatic means.

The Progressive Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs Forum made this demand at a press conference organized in the capital on Monday. ‘We urge the state to find a just solution to the attempted monopoly of the Malaysian immigrant recruitment process through skillful diplomatic skills,’ said Forum Chairman Janak Rawal. ‘If this solution is not found, a business meeting will be held and a protest program will be decided.’

Chairman Rawal also claimed that the monopoly will be maintained if the 10-point criteria brought by Malaysia as a binding condition are implemented. ‘This will put a financial burden on the workers,’ he said.

The forum has claimed that this proposal has been put forward at a time when the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security is currently in a leadershipless state and the Nepali ambassador to Malaysia has also been recalled.

Malaysia had sent a letter setting out 10 criteria for manpower from 5 countries, including Nepal, ‘to select an appropriate number of manpower companies to practice decent labor migration between the two countries.’ Source countries have been given a deadline of Kartik 27 to recommend a manpower company according to that criteria.
