A group of Nepali and foreign guides who had gone to climb Mount Dolma Khang were caught in an avalanche on Monday morning near the base camp of Mount Yalung Ri in the Rolwaling area.

A group of 15 foreign and local guides who were hiking were hit by an avalanche near Yalung Ri around 9 am on Monday, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Gyan Kumar Mahato. Their condition is not yet known.

A local from Na village said that despite urging the administration for rescue since Monday morning, there has been a delay in the rescue. The Rolwaling area is a restricted area for helicopter flights, so the administration's delay in granting permission has created additional problems, he said. Police said that efforts are underway to find the foreign and Nepali guides who were hit by the avalanche. Police said that a helicopter has now left for the area to search for and rescue those who have lost contact.
