Kantipur journalist Kunwar receives Dawa Norbu Mountain Journalism Award

Kantipur journalist Kunwar receives Dawa Norbu Mountain Journalism Award

The Nepal Mountaineering Association has awarded this year's Dawa Norbu Mountain Journalism Award to Kantipur's tourism and aviation correspondent Suraj Kunwar.

The award, which includes a cash prize of Rs 20,000, was presented to Kunwar by Ramkrishna Lamichhane, Director General of the Department of Tourism, and Fur Gelje Sherpa, President of the Association, at a program organized in Kathmandu on Saturday on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the Association.

Similarly, Pawan Phuyal was also presented with the Dawa Norbu Mountain Journalism Award along with a cash prize of Rs 20,000.

Similarly, Mingma Tenji Sherpa, who created new history by climbing all 14 peaks above 8,000 meters without wearing down feathers, was awarded the Kumar Khadga Bikram Shah Adventure Award, and Siddhi Bahadur Tamang, who set a world record by climbing Ketu, the second highest peak in the world, six times, was awarded the Dr. Hark Gurung Mountaineering Award.

Similarly, Sub-Inspector Kunjang Chopel Sherpa, Nepal's first female police officer to climb Mount Everest, was honored with the Pasang Lhamu Sherpa Adventurous Woman Mountaineer Award. The mountaineers were awarded gold medals.

Similarly, the association honored Accounting Assistant Pramila Sigdel as an outstanding employee. The association has been maintaining the tradition of honoring record-breaking mountaineers, organizations related to mountain tourism, journalists and employees with awards established in the name of eminent personalities of the association every year on the occasion of its anniversary.
