Arjun Bahadur Shahi, who was arrested on charges of threatening an employee by calling him a Gen-G, has been released.

The police investigated the banking offence and proceeded with the process, and he was released after paying the amount demanded by the victim, said SP Pawan Bhattarai of the District Police Range, Kathmandu. 'We had investigated and submitted a report with an opinion, and then he was released four days ago after an agreement was reached with the victim about Rs 1 million,' he said.

After his release, Shahi claimed that there was an attempt to assassinate his character. 'Truth is my only law. I have never backed down from working with the country and the people at the center and will not back down,' he said.

After the Gen-G movement, a complaint was received from the police that he had met the heads of various government offices and questioned them about submitting a memorandum. Employees of the Civil Aviation Authority and Nepal Airlines Corporation had also complained about his activities. When he was searched, he was accused of foreign fraud and banking offences. After that, the police took him into custody.

He was arrested by the Valley Crime Investigation Office on 28 Baisakh 2082 for a crime related to foreign employment. He was also a candidate in the by-election held in Ilam-2. He had won 55 votes by running as an independent candidate.
