The Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) has issued a notice to its member agencies regarding trekking permits for tourists visiting restricted areas, requesting them to exercise caution due to the adverse weather conditions such as hail, snowfall, and landslides currently occurring across the country.

According to a notice signed by General Secretary Sonam Gyalzen Sherpa, trekking routes within the restricted area have been affected due to continuous heavy rain and snow in various districts. The concerned district administration offices, security agencies and local levels have also issued alert notices in this regard.

For this reason, TAAN has urged member agencies to carefully assess the weather conditions before deciding to send tourists and trekkers to the restricted area. In addition, the TAAN central office has requested them to pay attention to the information issued by local bodies and administration and give high priority to the safety of travelers.

According to TAAN, there may be a situation where trekking permits for restricted areas may not be issued or approved in the affected districts. Therefore, TAAN has urged its members to remain in constant coordination with the concerned agencies and contact the responsible persons of TAAN in case of emergency. Which includes Sagar Pandey, Chairman, Sonam Gyaljen Sherpa, General Secretary, Bikram Gurung, Department Coordinator, Kiran Prasad Acharya, Chairman, TAAN Gandaki and Ramchandra Sapkota, Chief Executive Officer of TAAN.

TAAN has made a special request to be aware of coordination, information exchange and safety among trekking agencies in difficult times.
