Long-distance travelers have been stranded due to traffic disruptions, while freight transportation has also been affected.
Rain and landslides have completely blocked many of the country's main highways as of Friday morning. According to a notice published by the Nepal Police Traffic Management Division at 10 am on Friday, a total of 11 highways are blocked.
According to the police, roads have been blocked at five places in Koshi Province alone. It has been reported that traffic has been completely stopped in areas such as Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-4 in Sankhuwasabha, Mechi Highway in Ilam, Chyangthapu-Bhotkhola road section in Panchthar, and Manmaya-Siddhicharan road section in Okhaldhunga.
Similarly, roads have been blocked at five places in Bagmati Province including Kavrepalanchok, Sindhuli, Nuwakot, Ramechhap and Rasuwa. Police have stated that traffic has been stopped due to landslides on road sections including Gosaikunda-Syafrubesi, Narayanthum-Mulkhar, Khandadevi-Thoksechaur.
In Gandaki Province, traffic has been completely stopped at two places in Myagdi and Musikot, in Lumbini Province, one place in Arghakhanchi, and in Karnali Province, traffic has been completely stopped on the Tripurasundari-Kholgaun road section in Dolpa.
Nepal Police said, 'Repair and road opening work is ongoing on the blocked roads, but for the time being, passengers and drivers are requested to use alternative routes.' Due to the traffic disruption, long-distance passengers have been stranded and the transportation of goods has also been affected.
