The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has stated that the partial effects of the cyclone 'Montha' that developed in the Bay of Bengal have started to be seen. According to the department's Weather Forecasting Division, there is a possibility of heavy rainfall in some places in Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces from Thursday to Saturday.

The Flood Forecasting Division under the department has urged people to be vigilant, saying that sudden floods are likely in various rivers in the next 3 days. The division has stated that there is a possibility of sudden floods in rivers flowing through some districts of Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati and Lumbini provinces on Thursday. Similarly, sudden floods are expected in small rivers flowing through Koshi, Madhes and Bagmati provinces on Friday and Saturday. 

Similarly, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has also urged people to be vigilant as the Meteorological Forecasting Division has predicted heavy snowfall in one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and heavy rain in one or two places in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati and Lumbini provinces. The authority has also requested people not to travel unless absolutely necessary.
